Illume — 'Your brighter path to dental care' in Cheltenham & Gloucestershire

Anna Winters,  who has been part of the Illume team since she joined us as a trainee dental nurse in 2010 has recently completed her dental nursing training course and successfully passed her dental nursing exam.

We are very proud of her and wish her best of luck and lots of joy in her chosen career as a qualified dental nurse!

It takes two years to qualify as a dental nurse after gaining two years of full-time chair-side experience as well as attending a part-time vocational course for one year and passing an exam.

As part of the training course Anna had to study anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathology, dental disease and learn about composition and use of dental materials, drugs and anaesthetics  as well as infection control, sterilization and much more.

In November 2011 Anna took her dental nursing exam with the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses comprising of a written and practical exam testing her on her overall knowledge and practical skills.

After qualifying as a dental nurse Anna will now register with the General Dental Council as a Dental Care Professional like all our other clinical team members.

At Illume we are committed to train all our team members to the highest standards exceeding the required continuous professional development by a long way to ensure we provide our clients with the best possible service.

Illume held another Open Evening to celebrate the completion of the recent practice refurbishment. We are immensely proud of the new look practice and were able to showcase all the benefits this has delivered.

Illume is still one of very few purpose built dental practices in this area and the recent work keeps it at the forefront of high quality dental care. Our blog has recently featured a number of articles of why and how we carried this out. To find out more click here

Guests were able to discuss with a glass of wine and nibbles how they may benefit from the many treatments that we offer. They also had a go in our ‘Guess the Illume team as babies’ competition with monies raised matched by Illume and sent to the Pied Piper Appeal. It’s fair to say that the results weren’t brilliant with many of us bemused at whom we’d been mistaken for!

Congratulations to Mrs Frances Smith and Mrs Jackie Macey who won a case of wine and an electric toothbrush.

Although happy to chat about any aspect of what we do here at Illume there were specific treatments we focused on during the evening.

Dr Adrian Jones and our Implant Co-ordinator Claire were available to discuss the use of implants to restore missing teeth helping clients to avoid unsightly gaps and dentures and to be able to eat whatever they like with confidence. This is a growing trend in dentistry – please follow the link to illumeimplants for more information.

Dr Sarah Moore carried out a live demonstration of the use of Botox to describe how it gently inhibits the facial muscles and helps smooth out lines and wrinkles. She can also provide treatments such as fillers. For further information please follow the link to illumefacial.

Sarah was also on hand to discuss a range of orthodontic treatments to banish crooked teeth and smiles including the new Damon systems which deliver excellent results more quickly and with fewer visits. Follow the link to illumeorthodontics

Dr Tim Rumney was able to discuss how Snore guards can help people, and more importantly their partners, improve their sleep through the use of custom-made anti-snoring appliances. Snoring is an enormous problem to many people who may be unaware that help is at hand. For more information go to illumesnoreguards and also don't miss out on our current 'Silent Night' promotion offering you a fantastic special price on snore guards until 31 Jan 2024 !

If you would like to discuss how you may benefit from the many treatments we offer please call us on 01242 522230 to arrange a consultation, informal discussion or just to drop in and meet us and enjoy the great coffee!

Our refurbishment project is finished and we are very pleased with the result! Please don't take our word for it though - come and see it for yourself!

We are inviting you, your family and friends to come and join us on our Open Evening on Thurs 29 Sep 2024 from 6.30pm onwards. We will welcome you with exciting prizes to win, a tour around our newly refurbished practice, a panel of experts on the latest treatments available at Illume, a live botox demonstration and lots more.

Please contact us on [email protected] or 01242 522230 if you would like to come !

Illume wants to congratulate the proud parents Carley and Paul to the arrival of little Freddie on Saturday 20 March 2010. Carley Warren our clinical coordinator and dental nurse has been part of the Illume team since 2006 and many of our clients will have met her in Laurie's treatment room. We wish her all the best and hope she will enjoy her time at home with the new baby!

In December we had a great team training day at Hotel du Vin in Cheltenham.

The training day was followed by a chocolate making session with Hartley Events.  The idea was to encourage team building at the same time as having great fun. We certainly did this,as you can see on the photos. Ali was delighted that her team won – not that she is at all competitive!
