Believe it or not, dentists and weddings can go hand in hand to create a picture perfect smile. From orthodontic treatments to teeth whitening, many couples invest in improving their teeth to significantly boost their self-confidence before their big day.
Teeth Whitening:
Like the General Dental Council, Illume dentists believe that teeth whitening should only be provided by registered dentists. We use a well-researched technique using materials which have been shown to be efficient and safe. All patients will require a professional consultation to ensure they will benefit from the process. We will then create a custom made tray (like a gum shield) for patients to use for 8 hour periods (usually whilst they sleep) with whitening gel. We will advise you how long your treatment is likely to take and will closely monitor your progress.
Professional Tooth Whitening will help remove stains and dark pigmentation from the teeth with a gentle sustained release action. The tooth structure remains unchanged whilst most patients experience noticeably whiter teeth. From our experience we know teeth whitening can last for some years, however teeth will darken faster if they are exposed to staining products such as tobacco, coffee, tea, red wine or fruit juices, fried food etc.
The major benefit of this system is that no conventional drilling is required to achieve a whiter, brighter smile and so it avoids invasive treatments such as crowns and veneers.
Teeth Straightening:
Orthodontics (teeth straightening) isn’t just for children, and has seen a rapidly growing adult audience thanks to the wide availability of a range of discreet treatments. Illume dentist Sarah Moore is a member of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and is experienced in working with both adults and younger people. She also runs a clinic at The Gloucester Royal Hospital.
It should be noted that orthodontic treatment is a long-term commitment - it usually takes around one to two years to achieve the desired results, so will need scheduling in during the early stages of wedding plans. For those getting married in the short term, full orthodontic treatment may not be possible.
