Long-standing Cheltenham resident, Myrna Daniels, has been coming to Illume for more than 25 years and now sees Tim for regular Healthy Mouth Reviews.

For Myrna, our dental expertise is a given, but it’s the compassion she receives from our professional team which is one of the things she most values and the main reason behind her continued loyalty.

Myrna says, “It’s very important to have your teeth done well, but for me it’s also very important to have a rapport with my dentist and I have that with Tim.”

Sandra Parsons became an Illume client in 2010 when her dentist, Adrian Jones, joined us from another practice in Cheltenham. Sandra had been attending appointments with Adrian for over 10 years and had established such trust in him that when he started practicing at Illume, she decided to come too!

Sandra explains, “I like to stay with a dentist that I can trust and Adrian really does go above and beyond to make sure he explains everything clearly.”

As well as regular Healthy Mouth Reviews with Adrian, Sandra also attends Hygiene Support Visits with our hygienist Agnes about four times a year. “I think it’s worth seeing the hygienist regularly and I have no hesitation in asking her advice if I have any issues,” she comments.

Sandra has also undergone mouth cancer screening which involved a sample being taken from her palette and sent to the Oncology Department at Cheltenham General Hospital for analysis, as part of Illume’s Mouth Cancer Foundation accredited referral path. The test came back negative, which put Sandra’s mind at rest.

As the first dental practice in Cheltenham to be accredited in the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme, Illume provides screening as part of all Healthy Mouth Reviews, and also offers the ‘2 minutes to save a life’ service which is available to anyone, free of charge.

Non-clinical Director, Alison Rumney, says “We are very proud of our accredited mouth cancer screening and believe it’s vital to make this essential service available to everyone in Cheltenham, not just our clients. We hold regular open events where local people are invited to visit us for free screening. In the majority of cases cancer is not present, but when it is early detection significantly increases survival rates.”
